Where the Money Goes
Carol Leamy, President
Girlfriends of the Church, St. Paul’s UMC
We welcome all women of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church to join
in the many activities of Girlfriend of the Church. We are a diverse
group of women with a common goal to do as Jesus would have us do. “Do
unto others as you would have others do onto you”
We have just celebrated our sixth annual Holiday Craft Faire. This was
our largest group of vendors, (thank you Judy) and our most profitable
year ever.
(see below where the money goes)
Our next event is our Annual Soup Luncheon November 15th Co-hosted by
Linda Havens, Pam Warren and Jan Lyons, along with Kathy Randolf (our
Bread Ministry Chief). Join in this Autumn Event for a warm cup of soup.
A donation basket will be on available. All donations will go to the
Pastors discretionary fund.
Some past news: Not so hot off the press…I scream, you scream, we all
scream for ice cream. So, on Sunday August 9th Girlfriends of the Church
celebrated with the congregation at St. Paul’s UMC with an Ice Cream
social to thank you for supporting the many projects we support.
Each year the “GFOC” holds several fund raisers. The funds we raise are
divided in many directions such as Youth Group, UMCOR, United Methodist
Women, Mission Society “The Johnson family, serving in Russia”, CAAW,
Hosanna House, Big Brother and Big Sisters, Veterans Home, Volunteers In
Mission (Pastor Pat and Judi Jensen’s New Orleans trip), Pastor
Discretionary Fund and St. Paul’s UMC general fund and the Agape House a
UNR Christian
Event Center for students.
In addition every other year we hold a Rummage Sale which half of the
proceeds go directly to St. Paul’s UMC. This year we earned $1,371.00
thanks to many hands working to make the Rummage Sale a success.
Last year we will able to support our projects in the amount of $
3,025.00. This year we estimate over $4,000.00 in funds received. We
could not do what we do without your
generous gifts of time and energy.
Special thank you to Alice Griffin, Kathy Randolf and
team Comfort Food Friday, Linda Clark, Mikie Haley, and
those that donated beautiful Baskets for our Auction, Carol
Leamy and team for a wonderful Easter Brunch, Susan
Schulte, Gwen Shonkwiler and team for the 2009 outrageous
Rummage Sale. Pat Ryan and “GFOC”, for the yummy Ice Cream Social. What
a great job you did and are doing! And last but not least Judy
Baatrup and Sheila King and all those who helped during our
outstanding Holiday Craft Faire.
“GFOC” is open to all women and young ladies of the Church. We meet the
first Sunday of each month following our 10:00 A.M. Service in Thurman
Hall. Lysa Lee will be our guest speaker on November
1st and Kathy Randolf will speak on December 6th.
