Change The World

April 24 - 25, 2010

April 26 bulletin: WOW! What a success! Photos, a video, and details to follow...

What if every church in the world took one day and helped their community? Can you imagine how many lives could be touched?

Well, we can’t speak for every church in the world but the people of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Reno, Nevada are going to do their best to touch OUR community.

On Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 9am we are gathering at the church to disperse two teams of community volunteers to spend the day at Peavine and Elmcrest Elementary Schools for spring clean up, painting and other chores. Did I mention lunch will be provided by St. Paul’s UMC?

We are all aware of the budget crisis in the State of Nevada and the cities of Reno and Sparks. Cutbacks across the board have touched our children’s abilities to learn as the school budgets are being trimmed. It’s time for the community to step forward and become the hands and feet of Jesus Christ as we pull together to help our community become a better place.

These two schools are our community projects BUT we’re not finished yet.

Since Sunday April 25, 2010 we steped-it-up-a-notch by focusing on our world. Every 30 seconds a preventable and treatable disease kills a CHILD. That disease is Malaria and it doesn’t have to be a killer. Something as simple as a $10 mosquito net can prevent children from dying. We took a special offering on that Sunday to help save a child’s life AND we have had a "Change The World" jar for your loose change since then.
